From NYPD Detective to Safety Advocate
Thomas Grimes is a United States Air Force veteran and a Retired Detective From the New York City Police Department.
His Law Enforcement career started at “The Alamo” (NYPD’s 46 Precinct) in the Bronx, but he spent the majority of his 20 year career investigating international narcotics trafficking alongside Agents from both the FBI and the DEA.
He was an original member of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Strike Force, the NYPD’s Organized Crime Investigation Division and the Federal High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
Tom’s investigations took him from the streets of New York City to the Islands of the Caribbean and the jungles of South America. He was a first responder to the attacks at the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001 and has provided security for four U.S. Presidents, Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandella and the United Nations General Assembly and has represented New York’s Finest Speakers on Local and National Television and Radio News programs.
Tom is the Father of two adult sons and resides in the Greater New York City Area.
He is also a first time author, writing Charlie Ida – A Police Story, during the COVID Pandemic.

Our Approach to Safety Education
All of our presentations come from a Law Enforcement perspective. We try to apply tried and true Police Department principles to real life situations both online and off. We offer a common sense streetwise approach to students and parents encouraging communication and involvement as well as personal responsibility and accountability. The feedback has been, from students, teachers, administrators and parents is that nobody really talks to young people on these subjects the way we do.
New York’s Finest Speakers is made up of a Team of Retired New York City Police Detectives and Federal Agents who consult, cordinate and research to stay current on Safety Trends both ONLINE and OFF.
